Your $35 ticket gives you access to the ski lifts and the concerts! This family friendly event also includes fire eaters, jugglers, games, food, beverages including libations supplied by Fulton Beer, giveaways from REI and Hoigaards, hot tubs, bi-ski rides, U.S. Paralympic athletes. $5 of your ticket price is tax deductible. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the party continues until 1 a.m.  Proceeds benefit the Courage Center Alpine Ski and Snowboard Program for skiers and boarders with disabilities. I had the honor of opening up the show.  Just myself and my beat up Takamine.  It was awesome to be on stage in front of all of those new faces (room hit capacity by the end of the night at around 900).  My set was short and sweet... but it felt incomplete.  So often when I play a show, especially if we're headlining, I feel complete afterwards.  Full.  Satisfied.  As though I just ate a double wrapped Chipotle burrito with all of the added amenitites (even the guac for $1.80 extra).  But after THIS 30 min set, I was still hungry for more.  I felt like I hadn't properly introduced my music to the people yet... I had so many more tunes... so many more jokes and stories. 

And then without a heads up, I was summoned to the stage by Alison Scott to sing a song w/ her... and I ended up rocking a tambourine solo.  I think we sounded pretty good between all the laughing. 

Eric took the stage and rocked the night out... and after spending a little time in the green room with the other two bands, I realized more and more how much my heart desires this life.  A little bit of road, a lot of elbow grease, suitcases, asking for wi-fi, hummus, new faces, new fans, other artists, new friendships and new inspirations... oh and some music in there too. 

Patrick Henry said "give me liberty or give me death," at the Virginia Convention in 1775.  Music is my liberty.  The stage is my home.  This is my Revolution.

We are two young lovers divided by the harsh reality of my wallet size, and terrible credit.  It's like a princess whose father (money/credit) is determined to keep her single, and to keep me far away from the castle.  I sneak in, though.  I swim through the moat and scale the castle walls just to catch a glimpse of her.  We make beautiful music together and it is perfect.  But then I leave... unsatisfied because all I want to do is stay. 

I'm determined to find away.  I can't steal her... but maybe I can work hard enough to earn her fathers (my credit) approval... or maybe... maybe I can make a name for myself throughout the Kingdom.  A name so respected that she is offered to me as my bride.  mmmm... A Gibson endorsement is truly a dream...

I digress. 

I'll stay with my current lover for now... but, alas, this Takamine knows that I would leave her in a heart beat for my one true love.  That is why she treats me so poorly. 

Hmmm... I suddenly feel like Robin Hood...

I'm really excited about the shows coming up in the next couple months.  I'm particularly excited about heading to Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI again this year... followed by my trip back to my hometown in Michigan, followed by my trip to Nashville. I've never been to Nash. I can't wait to experience the heart of music that pulsates in that town. 

If you've never heard of Casey Carlson, now is the time.  She was on American Idol recently, and made it in the top ____.  I don't know the number exactly, but she's semi-famous and with good reason.  I'm playing a show w/ her, as well as Cedar Avenue and Select Three on April 30th.  I can't wait.  Mark your calendars, folks!
